Productivity Day 2019

Michael Frisby, MD, Vuzion writes...

Michael FrisbyDid you know that today is World Productivity Day? Notwithstanding that every day really should be focused on productivity, it’s a great reminder to talk to your customers about how you can help them with what continues to be a struggle for many small businesses.

According to the recent Paessler Cloud Survey, UK SMBs claimed old-fashioned processes, out-of-date computer systems and problems hiring the right staff were hampering their growth.

When asked what technology would help them boost their productivity, most said up-to-date business software, the ability to work away from the office, being able to store documents in the cloud and implementing artificial intelligence to handle repetitive tasks.

This is an ideal opportunity to start a conversation with your customers about the benefits of moving to Microsoft 365, which combines the power and familiarity of Office 365 Business Premium, with Windows 10 and Enterprise Mobility + Security (EM&S) capabilities in a single platform. It enables businesses of any size to increase productivity, reflecting the demand for increased collaboration and flexible working, while lowering operational costs.

At the heart of the platform is Microsoft Teams, Microsoft’s fastest ever growing business application. Teams enables employees – whether office-based, in the field or on the road – to be more productive by working collaboratively and sharing information in real time via shared workspaces and storage applications.

The SMB market represents a great opportunity for partners, where you will already be engaging with your customers about their options regarding the end-of-support for both Windows 7 and Office 2010 next year. Another huge driver is helping customers migrate from Office 365 to Microsoft 365.

Indeed, Forrester’s analysis indicates a 130 percent return on investment (ROI) for partners selling Microsoft 365 Business and $1,200 revenue per user over three years.

  • $1,200 revenue per user
  • $2 million net percent value
  • 130 percent return on investment
  • 17 months payback

As Forrester notes, “As SMB technology budget holders and decision makers move away from a strategy of sweating their IT assets toward a more strategic and active approach to technology adoption, Microsoft partners can capitalise on growing IT budgets and accelerated refresh cycles.”

"Microsoft 365 is a particularly good option for the smaller business with no IT resource,” says James Taylor, head of business development at Windsor-based IT service provider, Care Computers. “Businesses trust Office 365 technology. It’s tried and trusted and known, often the ‘office’ applications that an organisation relies on. And so, it’s not new technology that businesses have to take a gamble on.

"We’re also seeing an increasing number of customers now wanting to make a full jump to the cloud, particularly those with no on-premise systems with which they wish to continue. With its range of features and span across Windows 10, Office 365, and EM+S, this is the ideal option for those customers."
