One of the key announcements at this year’s Microsoft flagship partner event, Inspire, was the launch of Microsoft 365 – bringing together Office 365, Windows 10 and EM+S (Enterprise Mobility + Security).

Developed in Enterprise and Business edition, Enterprise was released for general availability, while Business was initially only available in public preview.

But, Microsoft has now announced the general availability of Business edition as well.

Created to meet the needs of an evolving work environment, Microsoft 365 incorporates productivity, collaboration, device management, and security tools, with Business edition designed to meet those of SMEs in particular – the requirement to improve productivity and security, while at the same time simplifying IT management.

Microsoft 365 Business edition, therefore, incorporates:

- Office 365 apps – including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Outlook for email, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams. StaffHub – the feature developed to support frontline workers in the management of their working day – is now also available in Business.

Enhanced protection for business data, with security expanded across users, apps, and devices. Businesses are confident in knowing that PCs are up to date and secure, and that they are self-guarded to help prevent security vulnerabilities – a recent report highlights that 43 percent of all cyber-attacks last year targeted companies with fewer than 100 employees. Business edition also enables organisations to delete corporate data from lost or stolen devices.

Simple setup and management. While SMEs need access to the productivity and collaboration tools necessary to retain competitive advantage, the cost and complexity associated with managing the technology can at times prevent these businesses from being able to do so. Microsoft 365, therefore, offers a single console, and which enables a business to:

  • Quickly and easily set up new employees
  • Configure device security policies
  • Manage user identity and access
  • Have all users on the most up-to-date versions of Windows 10 and Office

In addition, a single per-user, per-month subscription basis means that costs are simplified and streamlined.

Interest in Microsoft 365 Business was steadily increasing while the edition was in public preview, among businesses and organisations across industry, and this interest is expected to grow even greater now that Business is generally available.

Darren Roberts, Vuzion Channel Business Manager, comments, “We’re really excited to have Microsoft 365 Business available for our partners to help their customers enjoy an even more integrated cloud experience.”
