Change to Office 365 Delegated Admin Privileges (DAP) 1 November 2018

Julian Dyer, Vuzion CTO writes …

Microsoft has announced a change to the process surrounding CSP Office 365 Delegated Admin Privileges (DAP), enabling partners to choose when connecting with customers, whether or not to include DAP, and a change which came into effect on 1 November 2018.

Prior to the change, Office 365 DAP was included automatically in all new relationships, and – if not required – the customer then had to go in and remove.

This change in process is one that partners have been asking for, and if you’re not familiar with Office 365 Delegated Admin Privileges, they give the reseller authority to administer a customer’s account on behalf of that customer – including the ability to add users or domains, reset passwords, for example.

From 1 November 2018, partners now have the ability to create a CSP selling relationship without Office 365 DAP, if required, from the start.

To support this change, customers need to use their Microsoft Store for Business to accept CSP reseller invitations, rather than through the Microsoft Office Admin Portal. Microsoft is advising that there will be no other differences to the process. Also, we remind resellers that the original existing CSP invites will use the Microsoft Office Admin Portal as before and will continue to request DAP access.
