Back in July and at their flagship partner event, Inspire, Microsoft announced details of their newest offering, Microsoft 365, created as one complete, intelligent and secure solution, with its aim to empower employees, and available as Business edition and Enterprise. Earlier this week, on Monday 25 September 2017, and at their partner event Ignite, Microsoft announced the impending launch of a further edition – F1, designed to empower firstline workers.
With firstline workers numbering 2 billion worldwide, and across industry and market – from manufacturing, to retail, and healthcare – Microsoft says F1 has been developed in recognition that “digital transformation has, for the most part, passed the Firstline Workforce by.”
Microsoft 365 F1 incorporates Office 365 F1, Windows 10 Enterprise, and Enterprise Mobility + Security, to give firstline workers “a more intuitive, immersive, and empowering experience” (Microsoft).

As part of the F1 launch, Microsoft announced new StaffHub capabilities. These include enabling employees to clock in and out, as well as to track tasks. Easier employee connection is served through StaffHub integrating messaging with Microsoft Teams and highlighting corporate announcements in Yammer. General APIs will allow businesses to connect StaffHub to workforce management systems and other tools.

“Many partners will not have engaged with these industries that traditionally employ a high percentage of firstline workers – this is the time to do so, with government, healthcare, manufacturing, retail and transportation among the markets to look at in particular – and it’s also an opportunity to tailor offerings with the addition of managed services.”
