Microsoft have announced a raft of updates for their Spring Microsoft business applications release. The updates include plenty of innovation across the whole product line with new features and capabilities that will affect new business applications and intelligent capabilities as well as new platform capabilities. These updates include Dynamics 365 for Marketing which we explore in detail here. To help you understand what your business could be taking advantage of in the latest update, we've taken a closer look at what the updates mean for companies large and small.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales Professional
Microsoft Dynamics 365 has become a whole lot simpler thanks to the introduction of Dynamics 365 for Sales Professional. The update sees Microsoft unleash a new, streamlined sales application complete with SalesForce Automation capabilities. Sales planning and performance management tools are included with the solution, helping to increase productivity and make the entire sales process as straightforward as possible.
Microsoft were keen to point out in the announcement that they've invested heavily in AI research over the past few decades. Evidence of the funding can be found Microsoft Dynamics 365, especially in Dynamics 365 for Sales. Some of the new intelligence capabilities include the all-new relationship assistant, which allows sellers to see reminders and alerts that can help move client relationships forward, as well as auto-capture with Outlook, which enables sellers to quickly find messages that are relevant to individual accounts before tracking them in Dynamics 365 with a single click. There's also email engagement which provides helpful and actionable email insights, meaning sellers can quickly and easily prioritise their most receptive contacts.
Another announcement was Microsoft Power BI Insights, which promises to deliver useful insights that are actually tailored to specific scenarios. Designed with everything from marketing, sales and service, to finance and even talent in mind, it works by applying advanced intelligence to Microsoft data subsets to generate insights. Customers can also use third-party data to help enhance the overall accuracy. All Power BI Insight apps can be fully customised within Power BI, and you can further adapt it to the unique needs of your business by applying Azure data services. Both Power BI for Sales and Power BI for service will be available to preview this spring.
Business Application Platform
Microsoft also announced the new Business Application Platform. Designed with the ever-changing needs of every business in mind, it gives companies the opportunity to customise and build new applications which work alongside and on top of Office and Dynamics 365.
Microsoft business applications are constantly evolving and the Spring release was no different. First the Common Date Service for Apps received an update which will allow for a greater set of capabilities when it comes to creating increasingly sophisticated business solutions. When combined with PowerApps (which already has point and click app development) it allows for increased potential for customers to not only customise their existing apps across both Office 365 and Dynamics 365, but also gives them everything they need to build new ones quickly.
A new Power BI capability was also announced. Designed to make the analysis and integration of data (which has been isolated across services and business apps) less challenging, the 'Common Data Service for Analytics' will cut any difficulties. It will work by adding an extensible business application model which has been constructed on the common data model. It means companies will be able to pull together data from various sources, helping users to access business analytics through every bit of data that's relevant to their field.
