Microsoft EM+S | May 2017 Updates

Microsoft are constantly updating and developing their solutions to deliver market leading offerings. Here, we give an overview of the key Enterprise Mobility May 2017 updates:

Microsoft FastTrack Gains New Resources

Microsoft have announced that new resources have been added to their Microsoft FastTrack for Enterprise Mobility + Security (EM+S) website. There are now EMS capabilities available with Microsoft Advanced Threat Analytics, Microsoft Cloud App Security, Azure Information Protection, Microsoft Intune, and Across Azure Active Directory. By using FastTrack, you are able to deploy much faster and can save time from planning to development to growth. It also means you don’t need to spend additional money on extra resources for simple on-boarding tasks.

An EM+S Getting Started Guide is available to help users through the process of using FastTrack and understanding more about EMS’s technical capabilities. It can be integrated into your organisation seamlessly as a way of protecting and managing devices, apps and data, as well as achieving set goals and projects.

New capabilities have been added to Information Protection and Security, Identity and Access Management, and Managed Mobile Productivity. Additionally, Microsoft Immersion has now evolved into Microsoft Hands-on Labs, which offers new solutions and technical overviews that help to explain how EM+S can be used.

Updates to Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Clients

Another new update to Microsoft’s Remote Desktop clients. This includes new functionality added to the Windows 10 Universal app, which enables you to get more out of your existing Remote Desktop Client files. If you have a collection of these built, they can now be automatically launched through the app.

Additionally, advanced options have been introduced for control access to local resources. This includes changes to the clipboard, audio and in-session microphone. With the updates, you can now manage group desktops much more easily, which can help if you work in a larger company. You are also able to use a non-English keyboard and can copy and paste your files on a macOS using the pasteboard function.

Phase 2 of the Azure Information Protection Unified Administration

The final update for May 2017 was the introduction of phase 2 of the Azure Information Protection unified administration. The first step was initially introduced on April 26th, in which the unified Azure Information Protection admin experience meant you could manage your protection settings on labels without needing to first create RMS templates, which would usually be done by the classic portal.

Their goal was to streamline the process to create a unified space in which all classification, labelling and protection settings could be managed efficiently and effectively. With phase two, additional features will be available, including a new quick start experience. It will also be possible to use multi-language labels and to manage existing Azure RMS templates.

The licence enforcement is due to start in June. They have also introduced a new Quick Start page – although this is a small addition, it is particularly valuable as it improves easy access to important resources, including AIP video, documentation, client downloads, and the Microsoft Yammer group.
