Microsoft Teams continues to be a great resource for all kinds of organisations. From smaller companies to larger multi-nationals, the chance it provides to collaborate in real-time is simply awesome. As usual, Microsoft has continued to evolve this platform and there are some great new features to tell your customers about for February 2019.
Communicate more effectively
Communication is the heartbeat of any business and this is why Microsoft Teams is such a great solution for your customers. Microsoft has updated some communication aspects of Teams to include:
- Microsoft Team Rooms - this new feature is a rebranding of the existing Skype rooms feature. Team rooms has been set-up to make scheduling and managing a meeting even simpler.
- Teams only mode - your clients will have more options in how they communicate with this new mode. Accessed from the Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business Admin Centre, it makes teams the primary communication route for users.
New insights into how a business collaborates
Microsoft has updated a few things around IT admin - looking at how an organisation collaborates is one of them. Brand new usage reports will enable your customers to see who is using Microsoft Teams effectively within their company. New device usage, team usage and user activity analytics make this simple.
Microsoft has also been busy working on a new Team Template feature for February. This allows IT admin within a business to create pre-defined team templates, based on previous best practice. If your customers have found a team set-up that works best, they can create a template with the same parameters to use in the future. As well as this, Microsoft has also developed industry-specific templates that are ready to use. These cater to certain sectors like Education or Retail.
New features to empower staff
One cool update this month is the opportunity for first line workers to achieve more with Microsoft Teams. This type of employee can now access powerful mobile features including location sharing and smart camera. This mobile experience is fully customisable so every first line worker can carry out their job as they wish.
New bot and app features take centre stage
Microsoft has also been keen to point out the superb functionality that their bots bring this month. New updates in this area for February include creating 1:1 chats with specified users and bringing up a list of channels within a team.
Your clients may not realise but there are some very useful apps within Microsoft Teams. Mindmeister is one example that is becoming increasingly popular for its ability to make brainstorming sessions simpler. A new update for this app in February sees your customers being able to view their whole dashboard from Teams.
