If you've received an email directly from Microsoft. titled "Microsoft Partner Agreement official non-renewal notice and transition terms" – firstly, this is nothing to worry about.
Microsoft is merging a number of partner agreements, to create one, simple, partner agreement for indirect resellers in the CSP (Cloud Solution Provider) program, the Microsoft Partner Agreement (MPA).
The agreement will be available for preview from 31 July 2019, and partners will be able to begin accepting the new agreement from 1 September 2019 - and will need to have done so by 31 January 2020.
Building greater levels of trust
The aim of the MPA is to help develop an even greater level of trust between partners, customers and Microsoft, and to provide a greater degree of transparency and promote more efficient and more compliant business practices, through improving the clarification of data privacy, security and compliance terms, and enhancing partner rights and responsibilities to meet regulatory requirements.
Moving from a range of agreements to one, simple agreement
Alex Hazeldine, Vuzion business development manager, says, "I’ve had a number of partners call to find out more information about this.
"It can sound quite confusing to begin with, but essentially, Microsoft is moving from providing a range of different agreements to supplying one new agreement, while at the same time updating the provisions within it and the way it’s set out, so it can conform to new and future regulations, privacy and compliance laws.
"It’s very similar to when Microsoft created the Microsoft Cloud Agreement for end customers.
"So, just to confirm, partners in the CSP program will need to accept the agreement on or before 31 January 2020, to able to continue transacting 1 February 2020 onwards - i.e. for adding new subscriptions or seats to existing subscriptions through the Partner Center API or Vuzion’s marketplace and eCommerce platform, Vuzion CORE."
