Craig Gordon, Head of Vuzion, writes …
Ian Hill, Vuzion’s Channel Education Business Manager, and our Head of Marketing, Mark Terry, are currently attending Microsoft’s Global Education Partner Summit (GEPS) 2019 in Seattle (11-14 February).
Having arrived at the weekend to a distinctly snowy landscape - and apparently the worst snowfall for ten years - they received emails sent out yesterday evening to inform delegates that there would be no Monday sessions at the Microsoft Campus, as Microsoft couldn’t guarantee that the campus would remain open all day. Instead, sessions would be held via Teams
While Microsoft is hoping to move the Tuesday-Thursday sessions to the nearby Hyatt Regency Bellevue hotel, these sessions will also be shown through Microsoft Teams as well.
We’re constantly writing and speaking about the versatility of Teams - the hub for teamwork in Office 365, created to help empower employees to complete tasks more efficiently, participate in meetings that are more productive, and better manage their everyday workloads – while reducing costs for the organisation.
And this is a specific example of the power of Microsoft Teams - providing the communication structure to enable the conference sessions to go ahead.
How many people have travelled thousands of miles to GEPS? How many disappointed delegates would there have been had the sessions been cancelled?
But, through utilising Teams, Microsoft has ensured that there are no disappointed delegates - or delegates at risk, because, as Microsoft put in their email, "Our number one priority is to ensure your safety during this weather event."
Mark Terry, Head of Marketing commented "the weather might have stopped or restricted a large number of local bricks and mortar businesses, however the power of Microsoft technologies has enabled GEPS delegates an alternative way consume content. It is this versatility, that shows how Teams can help businesses, even in the most challenging conditions.
With the weather forecast showing signs of improvements over the next few days, Ian and I are looking forward to meeting up with UK Partners and the Microsoft team at this evenings welcome reception. If you are here, do come and say hello over a hot drink!"
Vuzion is a Microsoft Authorised Education Partner, and if you’re interested in finding out more about the CSP Education programme Ian will be happy to help - or call any of the Vuzion Team if you’d like to speak with someone while he’s away (0333 009 5939), or if you’d like more information about Office 365 and Teams. You can also reach the team via firstname.lastname@example.org.
