Vuzion’s COO raising money for the homeless through the CEOSleepout

On Thursday 4 April 2019, Vuzion Chief Operating Officer, Jeremy Drew, will be taking part in the CEOSleepout - the national event raising funds to fight homelessness and poverty in the UK.

CEOs, business leaders, owners, and senior execs are invited to sleepout in cities across the UK - from Portsmouth to London, Sheffield, York and Newcastle - with 2,000+ executives having taken part and raised £2,000,000 since the CEOSleepout charity’s formation in 2013.

Jeremy - who will be will be sleeping out in Portsmouth on 4 April, at the home of Portsmouth Football club, Fratton Park - says, "Helping in the fight to end homelessness and poverty really matters to me.

"In February this year, The Portsmouth News titled its story reporting on a study into homelessness, Disgraceful number of people are dying in Hampshire while sleeping rough.

"The study estimates that at least 83 people sleeping on the streets in Hampshire to have died over the past five years, and highlights the number of deaths among people sleeping rough across England and Wales to have risen from 482 in 2013 to 597 in 2017.

"These are real issues, affecting the real lives of real people."

The CEOSleepout takes place anually, and supports both national charities - for example, Changing Lives (helping vulnerable and homeless people across the whole of the UK), and Depaul (supporting homeless and disadvantaged youth, again across the UK) - as well as those locally based.

In the Portsmouth area, CEOSleepout will be looking to help Pompey in the Community (Portsmouth Football Club’s own charity) and The Roberts Centre, which supports families in the area facing homelessness, and focusing especially on the needs of the children.

The CEOSleepout website has further details if you’d like to find out more about the charity and the April sleepout.

Jeremy: "A night sleeping at Fratton Park is the least I can do to raise awareness and hopefully, with your support a good sum of money to help this noble cause.

"Everyone taking part has pledged to raise at least £1,000 - and if you’d like to help me meet this target, you can donate via my JustGiving webpage."
