Azure VPN Gateway’s provide a secure means of connecting to a virtual private network in Azure. You can connect a site-to-site VPN, such as a remote office to Azure or a Point-to-site. Point-to-site is for client VPNs, connecting your laptop to an Azure VNET for example.
Starting next month Microsoft are starting to remove TLS 1.0 and 1.1 support from Azure VPN gateways, leaving only support for TLS 1.2. This is to ensure PCI Compliance and maintain security and performance.
To ensure your VPN clients still work with Azure VPN point-to-site please download and update your Windows 7 and 8 Clients here:
✔ Update for Microsoft EAP implementation that enables use of TLS
✔ Update to enable TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 as default secure protocols in WinHTTP
If you’re using Azure point-to-site VPNs on Windows 10, you don’t need to take any action.
